Tommy Des Brisay

The BCA presented the 2017 Paul Van Steen Award to Tommy Des Brisay, a runner who truly enjoys running in community road races, connecting with other Ottawa residents and racing alongside his friends from the Ottawa Lions Club. He’s won Road Racer of the Year at the Ottawa Sports Awards for the past three years due to his strong performances in the marathon, half-marathon and 10K events. In 2017 Tommy competed in the World Para Athletics Championship in London in the T20 as Tommy has autism spectrum disorder. He finished 8th in the 5,000m and 12th in the 1,500m. Tommy hopes to train again with Athletics Canada in 2018, as he works toward competing at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
