Esther Akinsulie

The BCA presented Esther Akinsulie with the Paul Van Steen Sports Achievement Award for 2009. Esther is an Olympic hopeful in Track for 2012 in London, England, after just missing qualifying for the 2008 Olympics. Her most recent achievement has been winning gold in the 4×400 Women’s Relay and silver in the 400m dash at the World Universiade Championship held in Belgrade, Serbia, in July 2009. Esther only really began competing in track in 2003 in her last year at A.Y. Jackson High School, prior to that her main focus had been basketball. During her first year at Carleton University, she realized that she couldn’t continue competitively in both sports and chose Track as she felt that she would have a longer career as a runner.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esther_Akinsulie
