Spring Cleaning the Capital – April 15 to May 15

Let’s make it a 5-peat!  Kanata South has won the ward award for highest participation rates in all of Ottawa for the past 4 years in the Spring Cleaning the Capital Campaign.   Gather a group of family, friends and neighbours to clean up a park or other public area near you.  Register you project online at http://ottawa.ca/en/residents/water-and-environment/green-living/cleaning-capital to receive free cleaning supplies.  All projects registered by April 14th qualify for early-bird prizes.

Cleaning the Capital Weekend is on April 25 – 26th.  Steve Rahm is organizing a clean up of the Eva James, Deevy Pines and Hydro Lines area.  Anyone interested is welcome to join in!  They will be meeting outside the Eva James Community Centre at 9:30am on Saturday, April 25th for garbage bags, litter pickup tools, and refreshments. Then volunteers disperse through the park and meet back at the Centre around 11:30 for free pizza and desserts, compliments of Gabriels, MACs, and Hurleys Grill.

Rain date will be same time Sunday, April 26th, but only if Saturday’s weather is heavy rain — either way, Steve will be there Saturday morning, just in case.

No advance registration is necessary, and participation in this event will apply towards high school volunteer hours. Details will also be posted in the Community Centre, around the park, and neighbourhood mailboxes or contact Margaret at pres@bridlewood.ca.
